About the Museum

The Harvard Museum of Natural History was established in 1998. The Harvard Museum of Natural History is one of four research museums, also including Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Harvard University Herbaria, and the Mineralogical and Geological Museum.

It is our mission to heighten the public's understanding of nature, history, and human impact by letting minds wander to learn and discover new knowledge.

The Harvard Museum of  Natural History is a museum that explores the different aspects of nature and its history. We hope to create a learning environment for all ages that is interactive and informative.
We have about 300,000 visitors each year that come to look at our exhibits. Our visitors are made up of about 40,000 school children and adults, and the rest are tourists.

The most visited attraction at Harvard University is the Harvard Museum of Natural History. This is our most visited attraction because of our Temporary Exhibits and our Permanent Exhibits.
